Kings & Thieves has always been a collective, and will continue to grow as one into the future. We currently consist of myself (Ben, hey!), my wife Carisse, and a small team of kickass associate shooters.

We’re based in Katoomba, the heart of the Blue Mountains, but we find ourselves travelling for weddings in Sydney and interstate. We moved to Katoomba a few years ago after falling in love with the foggy mornings, cold nights and the weirdos roaming the streets. We’re those weirdos now, too. Personally, I love living here because it feels like everyone who resides in the Mountains is either a hippy or a creative, and most people you run into are very loving and accepting. Most have had their careers, and have moved away from the city to live on their own terms inside this national park. We’re blessed with amazing views of mountains and escarpments, bush, forests and a wild amount of epic experiences, which always makes for amazing wedding photos. But for me, my heart belongs to the town. It’s streets, it’s people, it’s vibes. There’s so much heritage here that goes unnoticed, and I love it.

I’ve been shooting creatively in the weddings space since 2014, and have had opportunities to speak and shoot across the country. I’ve won awards for the work we’ve produced, and I’m damned proud of where we’ve come from, where we’re at and where we’re heading. If you’d like to read more about our approach to shooting your wedding and the ways you love, hit here.

I’m nothing without my cup of coffee in the morning. And this ain’t no Pinterest-y “give me my latte or die” situation. I love brewing a litre of single origin filter coffee, each and every morning, then a top-up later in the day. I’m wild as, ey.

Up my arm you’ll spot a few Star Wars characters tattooed, with more to come. The artist who did all these pieces for me also illustrated that little “Shoot True” thing you’ll see in that picture of me above (find more of Jess’s work here). I bloody love film. And Star Wars will always have a special place in my heart.

My significant loves will always be my family. Carisse and I got married ages back in the Blue Mountains, which is when we first fell in love with this place. Since then, we’ve moved here, started a business together, and pumped out a couple of amazing kids. This photo of us was taken recently by an uncle using his iPad, and it’s my favourite photo of us together.

We know weddings. It’s our lifeblood, and we know how much of an impact amazing wedding photography can have. This is more than simply having the day documented in an artful way. It’s capturing your emotion, this time and place, the essence of being and the celebration of who you are together, to form a part of your legacy that will be handed down for generations.

Don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love to shoot you.
